Japanese License Plate Styles

Below are photos of the actual plates we offer.  Keep in mind colors can vary based on the device you are viewing this page with.  All the plates come with JDM spec holes pre-drilled.  They come from the factory that way.  All of our plates have an embossed border (raised).  You can choose to have the border with your text color or we can mask the border when we put your text color on so that the border stays the same color as the plate.

    Gloss White License Plate

    Our most popular plate color and the license plate for most passenger vehicles in Japan. Works well with any text color but black is the most popular.

  • reflective yellow Japanese license plate

    Reflective Yellow License Plate

    A reflective yellow background with a semi-matte finish. Stick with darker text colors. Black text is the favorite on this plate.

  • matte black Japanese license plate

    Matte Black License Plate

    A matte finish that works great for a 'murdered out' look (choose black text). Works best with lighter text colors. Darker text colors are going to be much more muted than we can demonstrate on our plate builder.

    A glossy finish on a black plate. Go with lighter text colors. White or silver text options are the most popular on this plate.

    A glossy finish on a darker green. Think forest green. Go with lighter text colors. White is most popular.

    A glossy finish in a lighter green. This plate is not reflective. Works great with lighter text colors.

  • Rising sun Japanese license plate

    Rising Sun License Plate

    Our own design featuring a white reflective background with bright red stripes emanating from the sun. The rising sun is currently used on flags for several Japan military branches. Looks best with black text.

  • Temporary Japanese license plate

    Temporary License Plate

    Typical for car dealers and mechanics to use these red-striped plates for as yet unregistered cars. They are issued by local government offices. There was a time when these plates were being increasingly used to get (un-registerable) cars to car shows. Best with black text.

  • Carbon fiber Japanese license plate

    A glossy finish with a simulated carbon fiber print on the plate. The 'go to' text colors on this are silver or white.
